What are the payment options for BoxOffice?
There are two payment options for BoxOffice :
Option 1 : BoxOffice Account
If you pay your DStv Account by Debit Order, your BoxOffice Account will automatically
be set to pay by Debit Order too. When renting a movie, we'll add the amount to
your BoxOffice Account and once a month (at the same time as for your DStv Account),
we'll run a separate Debit Order for the full outstanding amount on your BoxOffice
Account.
If you do not pay your DStv Account by Debit Order, you can pre-pay funds
into your BoxOffice Account using any of the methods used to pay your normal DStv
Account (i.e cash /cheque at Branch or EFT). When renting a movie, we'll subtract
the amount from the prepaid balance in your BoxOffice Account.
You can block the "BoxOffice Account" payment option by setting the BoxOffice Blocking to ON in the
decoder menu (press MENU, select Parental Control and set BoxOffice Rental Blocking
to ON). This will ensure that only those with a valid PG PIN can use the "BoxOffice
Account" payment option.
Option 2 : Credit Card
You can select to pay by Credit Card (we accept Visa or MasterCard).
Please note : payment via Credit Card is not available to our Lesotho customers.
Do I need to sign up to use PayU
You may sign up & log your details with PayU (
www.payu.co.za) or you can use PayU
for once-off transaction as when required.
How do I use my cards saved in PayU to make a payment on BoxOffice
on my TV?
You need to follow the following steps:
-
Select any movie from the BoxOffice playlist
displayed on your TV via your PVR decoder. You will be presented with an 18-digit
rental code. SMS the rental code to the shortcode number displayed on your TV screen
-
To make a credit card payment with your MasterCard or VISA credit card, click on
the link in the SMS that you receive from BoxOffice. After you enter your credit
card details, you will have the option to save your card in your PayU wallet. Activate
this feature to pay faster with PayU.
If you SMS the rental request from a mobile
number linked to your PayU wallet and you have an appropriate credit card, when
you click on the link you will be presented with a mobi site to enter your password
and pay.
If you SMS the rental request from a mobile number not linked to your PayU
wallet or you do not have a valid credit card saved in your wallet, when you click
on the link you will be presented with a mobi site to enter new credit card details
to make payment.
When I click on the link received in an SMS for BoxOffice, I cannot
access the mobi site
You need to ensure that your mobile phone has the correct settings loaded to access
the Internet (data must be enabled on your phone contract). Try visit
www.google.com and if you cannot access the site then contact
your mobile service provider. If you can access the Google site then please contact
the PayU call centre for further help.
I have a PayU account, but I can't see the "Sign In" button?
PayU may have already detected that you have an account, and identified you automatically.
You will see that your primary card has been listed on the page. You simply need
to enter your CVV and password to make a payment.
I get an error message when I try to sign in to PayU. The message
states that the merchant "Does not support my primary credit card type". What does
this mean?
Some merchants will only support cards from certain card issuers (e.g. MasterCard
& Visa) or cards that have been issued locally in a country. If you attempt to sign
in and we detect that your primary card does not match the criteria set by the merchant,
we will automatically redirect you to a page that requires you to make a payment
using another accepted credit card.
How do I know if the merchant supports my credit card?
Logos for supported credit cards are displayed on the payment page for your convenience.
If South African cards are only accepted, a message will be displayed.
Why is my credit card description displayed on the screen?
PayU detects your mobile number and this allows us to identify you as an existing
PayU user. We show the credit card description so you know which card you are paying
with. To maintain the security of your credit card, we never display the stored
credit card number.
How do I pay using a different credit card than the card stored in
my PayU wallet?
When making a payment, simply click on the "Pay with a different card" link.
I receive a bank error message when trying to make a payment - what
am I doing wrong?
Bank error messages can occur for a number of reasons. For example, the CVV number
you entered could be incorrect or there may be no credit available on the card.
If you receive this error message, we recommend that you contact your bank to identify
why the transaction has failed.
Where do I edit my saved credit card and personal information?
Go to
www.payu.co.za to edit
any saved credit card or personal information that you have added to your PayU profile.
How do I change my primary card?
Simply sign in to PayU at
www.payu.co.za, go to the "My cards" page and click on
the "Make primary" link next to the card that you want to be your default card.
I have a credit card saved in my PayU wallet- why can't I use it
to make a payment?
PayU will always use your primary credit card as your default card. If you wish
to pay using a credit card that is not your primary card:
-
Enter the card details manually on the page using the credit card form; or
-
Sign in to www.payu.co.za
and change your primary card to the one you wish to use
I received an error message stating that my transaction has timed
out when I click the weblink received from BoxOffice
When you SMS a rental request to DStv BoxOffice you receive a link back via SMS
to make a credit card payment. This link is only valid for 20 minutes. If your weblink
has expired, please generate another rental code and send the code via SMS to the
shortcode displayed on your TV screen. You will then receive a new weblink that
will be valid for another 20 minutes.
When I click "Pay now" to make a credit card payment for BoxOffice,
I receive an error stating that the transaction has timed out
Once you click on the weblink in the SMS, you have 10 minutes to make your credit
card payment. If you receive this error, you took longer than 10 minutes to process
the transaction. To make the payment, click on the weblink in the SMS again. If
the weblink is still valid, you can still make a credit card payment. If the weblink
has expired, you will need to generate a new rental code and SMS the shortcode displayed
on screen to receive a new weblink via SMS
When I click on the weblink in the SMS received from BoxOffice, I
receive an error stating that the link is invalid
The full web link in the SMS has not been correctly copied into your web browser
on your phone. Please copy the link again, ensuring that the whole link appears
in the web browser address bar.

a BoxOffice movie but have not received an SMS to confirm my movie is available
for viewing
